The Bible In My Hand

I love to hold my Bible in my hand,
even if I'm not reading it.
It feels good and balanced,

and it makes me feel secure,
I'm not quite sure why.
Maybe it's because

I'm holding onto God's Promise to us,
although this is an oversimplification I know.
Sometimes I hold it while I pray.
Sometimes I even carry it from room to room,
and I always have it with me,

when I leave my home.
I answered Christ's call rather late in life,
I guess I've always been slow to catch on.
I remember that

it was just days after I surrendered
to Christ's will for me,
I was reading my Bible,

in a public building not in Church;
I looked up and the beautiful woman,
who was to become my wife,
sat down right next to me.
